Privacy policy - CliMates

At CliMates, we take your privacy very seriously. We deliberately store your personal data on servers exclusively based in Europe, therefore subject to German and European data protection regulations. We always aim to use European service providers to ensure the privacy and protection of your personal data. We never pass your personal data on to a third party without your explicit consent.

This privacy policy ("policy") sets out our data processing and storage practices and your options and rights relating to the use of your personal data. Please read it carefully.

The provision of your personal data is voluntary. However, without entering this data, you will not be able, for example, to sign a petition, start a petition, participate in a campaign, make a donation, complete a questionnaire, apply for a job or become a volunteer.

1. Responsible entity, in charge of the data

2. Objectives of our privacy policy
This privacy policy regulates our handling of personal data. It specifies what personal data we collect when you visit our sites, and how we use it.

4. What information we collect

By giving you the opportunity to participate in our campaigns, support our work in various ways and be kept informed of news related to campaigns, we typically collect and store the following information:

  • Firstname name,

  • Postal code, country,

  • Language spoken.

Sometimes we ask you for more information when it is appropriate and relevant, for example:

  • Phone number,

  • Address,

  • Your profile on social networks,

  • Information on the campaigns you have supported, topics / areas of interest to you, your reactions to surveys you have completed and other information when relevant to the campaign.

  • The pronouns used to gender.

 

The legal basis for data processing is Article 6 (1) (b) of the General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR). You may also voluntarily send us a comment about the campaign you wish to support, and we may post it on our websites, elsewhere online, or in printed campaign material (such as a signature set, flyers or posters. banners), including your first name to illustrate the views of our community on this campaign, as part of a petition delivery, or any other communication intended for a wider audience.

2 \ To collect donations and manage financial transactions:

If you choose to support our action and make a donation, we need the following information:

  • Firstname name,

  • E-mail adress,

  • Postal code, country,

  • Bank details (name of the account holder, IBAN / account number, BIC / bank code, credit card number, name of the bank, etc.)

  • Donation amount and frequency.

3 \ To process your application for a job or volunteering:

When you apply for vacancies from CliMates, you decide for yourself what personal data you wish to submit in your application. In order to administratively process your application, we typically collect and store the following information:

  • Firstname name,

  • E-mail adress,

  • Country,

  • The language or languages ​​spoken,

  • Telephone number (when appropriate and relevant).

Note that applications sent by email are not encrypted.

4 \ You can visit our websites without providing us with any personal data and without making a donation. In this case, we collect and use the data that is automatically transmitted to us when you visit our website.

5 \ Usage data:

When you visit our site, we temporarily store so-called usage data, which we use for statistical purposes, to improve the quality and interface of our websites, and for security reasons. We also use this information to provide access to our websites and to monitor and administer our systems. The legal basis for processing usage data is our legitimate interest as defined by Article 6 (1) (f) of the General Data Protection Regulation.

The data consists of:

  • the page where the file was requested,

  • the name of the file,

  • the date and time of the request,

  • the amount of data transferred,

  • the access status (file transferred, file not found),

  • the description of the type of browser used,

  • the IP address of the computer from which the request originated.

5. How and why we use your data

  • Ongoing campaigns, including petitions and other actions;

  • Management of donations and other financial transactions;

  • Personalization of the interaction between the user and our sites;

  • Sending campaign information by email or other means (posts, phone calls, sms, Whatsapp and other channels);

  • Information on significant changes to the privacy policy;

  • Any other reason mentioned in this privacy policy.

2 \ Campaigns

We need your data to enable you to use all of our online services associated with our campaign work, eg. participate in a campaign, sign a petition, start a petition, participate in a survey or any other campaign action (such as an email or a tweet about a campaign target).

In order for you to participate in a campaign, we typically need your name, email address, zip code and country. We use your data (called here: signature) to add your participation in a campaign to the list of signatories, and to invite you to agree to receive our campaign emails.

We can typically give your last name, first name and country to a target of the petition, to prove that your signature corresponds to a real person, while protecting your privacy by communicating a minimum of information. In special cases, where your place of residence would have a particular impact on the success of our campaign (for example your constituency), we may share your postal code or your city as the target of the petition.

If you are participating in a campaign, we may occasionally ask you if we can share your email address with the campaign initiator or with our partner organization. We will share your email address only with your explicit consent.

For the execution of campaigns, the service providers that we employ, for example to send emails or to do site analyzes, only receive the data necessary to carry out their mission. The service provider will only be able to use your data for the assigned task.

If you participate in a campaign, with your explicit consent, we will use your data to keep you informed by email (or other channel) about the action of CliMates and our campaigns. You can revoke your consent to stop receiving information at any time by unsubscribing or sending us a message at contact@climates.fr as described below.

The legal basis for data processing is Art. 6 part 1 (a) (for campaign emails) and (b) (for signing a petition) of the European General Data Protection Regulation, for the European Citizens' Initiative, European Regulation N ° 211 / 2011.

3 \ Processing of financial transactions

We use your personal data to process the administration of any donation or payment you make to WeMove Europe, by credit / debit card, direct debit, check, standing order, or other wire transfer.

Your data may be transmitted to third parties only if this is necessary for the processing of donations and other transactions. The service providers we employ (see below) only receive the information necessary to perform their duties. The service provider will only be able to use your data for the assigned task.

4\ Contact

You can contact us by mail, by sending an email to communication@climates.fr, by phone or by direct message on Facebook. The data you provide will only be used to process your request, for example to provide you with the services, documentation or information you have requested. Your data will only be passed on to third parties if this is necessary to process your request.

The legal basis for the use of your data is Article 6 (1) (f) of the General Data Protection Regulation. CliMates has a legitimate interest in being in contact with the users of our websites and in answering any questions or sending information.

5 \ Campaign emails or "newsletters"

When you participate in one of our campaigns for the first time, we ask for your consent to send you more details ("campaign emails" or "newsletters").

With your explicit consent, we will use your email address to send you personalized emails about CliMates campaign work (including for example campaign launches, other campaigns that may interest or make you want to participate, fundraising funds, reports on campaign developments).

The legal basis for the use of your data is Article 6 (1) a) of the General Data Protection Regulation (agreement), agreement which you give us by clicking on the corresponding link in the confirmation email. You receive the confirmation email after entering your data via one of our campaign participation forms. The data is kept as long as your consent is valid. You can revoke your consent to stop receiving campaign emails at any time by unsubscribing or sending us a message as described below.

 

6 \ Applications (employment or volunteering)

To apply online for CliMates job offers, you can send us your application by email. You decide what personal information you want to include in your application.

We will only use your personal data to administratively process your application for a job or to become a volunteer. Your entered data will be transferred and entrusted to the persons responsible for the job offer and for recruitment procedures. All participants treat your application documents with due care and confidentiality.

Once the selection is complete, the information you provided for a specific selection procedure and the documents sent will be deleted, unless we have established a recruitment, volunteer or other contract with you.

6. Cookies

Cookies are small files saved on the hard drive of your computer or mobile device. They allow information to be stored for a specified period of time and to identify your device.

We use cookies in certain places on our website, for example to recognize your browsing preferences, to be able to improve your browsing experience, to pre-fill signature forms for you. This makes navigation easier and makes our site easier to use. Cookies also help us identify the most popular parts of our site.

We use different kinds of cookies. We use permanent cookies to facilitate user navigation and for the presentation of individual services. We also use so-called session cookies, which are automatically deleted when you close your browser. 7. Third party sites
Our websites are directly linked to other sites. For example, on our page you will find links from Facebook, Twitter or YouTube. This privacy policy does not cover external sites and we are not responsible for their privacy management or their content. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of any external site you visit through the links on our site.
 
8. Data retention
In general, unless it is still required for the reasons for which it was entered and processed, we delete your personal information from our database five years after receipt. However, if before that date (i) your personal information is no longer required in connection with said reasons, (ii) we are no longer legally obliged to process it or (iii) validly exercise your right to erasure, we will delete it. from our database at the specified time.

In the event that you ask us to stop sending you communications about our campaigns / fundraising / other, we will keep your name on our unsubscribe list to make sure we do not get back to you.

9. Your rights

As a user, you have the right to request information about what data is stored about you and for what reason. In addition, you can request that incorrect data be corrected, or that your data be erased (data that is no longer necessary to keep). You have a right to data portability. You also have the right to complain to a supervisory body about the data processing in place. You also have a right of appeal to a supervisory body if you believe that the processing of data concerning you does not comply with data protection regulations. The right of appeal may in particular be exercised before a supervisory body in the Member State where you live, work, or where the suspected violation takes place.

10. Amendments

We regularly review this privacy policy and reserve the right to update it from time to time by posting an updated version on our websites, in particular in the event of changes in applicable laws.
